Box-less gondolas save time, money and minimize hassle
Plastic crates for moving misses the mark. Whether or not they are green is a debate for another day ( it takes a ton of petroleum to extrude a crate) cardboard breaks down, plastic will fill a landfill for a long time. But here is the problem with plastic crates, they don’t make the moving process easier for the customer. Quite the contrary they make it tougher.
First let’s get past the “plastic crates are a box-less alternative”, no they are not. They are a box, they are just made of plastic and when you pack them it shuts the office down, lost productivity, lost money and increased hassle. Because they are much bigger than the size recommended for moving files, books and manuals they are hard to handle even for big strong men much less the females of the office. Since you plastic crates must be unpacked before your office can go back to work, you get the moving hangover and it lasts a while.
Household moving has been off for a bit in this economy, so fueled by a will to survive the home movers are trying to disguise themselves as commercial movers. The plastic crate guys want to sell or rent more of their product. They don’t care if their so-called “solution” actually cost their customers money with unneeded downtime. A mover that can supply you with a “move coordinator” should be able to help you steer clear of this time and money wasting use of plastic crates.
If a mover wants to become and office mover, they need to first of all think differently. They need to get shed of household mover thinking. It is OK if a household move takes six weeks to recover from, it is not OK for an office move. A business needs to begin making money as soon as they can after a move, relocations have a ton of expenses, don’t let a poorly selected mover zap revenue. If a mover wants to move offices, they should totally commit, evolving past the crates to office gondolas. Office gondolas, or bookshelves on wheels make moving easy for the customer. First they load in a fraction of the time, many times they are brought in on move day and loaded just prior to moving. The move the equivalent of 16 boxes, so moving takes half the time as crates, or boxes, less time, less cost. Everything stays in order the entire move process, heck you can work off them at any stage of move. They unload in five minutes so you office avoids the productivity draining move hangover. Oh I have 40 gondolas I built over 20 years ago, no landfill for them, that to me is “GREENER” than boxes or plastic crates.
Save time, save hassle, save money. A poorly done office move is not a bargain at any price. Don’t make yourself a moving target, use office gondolas, the true box-less, green solution. Say no to boxes, say not to plastic crates.
